Why is the Immigrants' Aid Trust a Company?

The Immigrants' Aid Trust (Company) was set up by the Immigrants' Aid Trust (Trust), a registered charity in England & Wales (Charity No. 262860). This Trust was established in 1971 and is governed by a deed of trust which has never been changed. We are applying for the Company to be registered as a Charity which will eventually replace the existing Trust. We are doing this because we believe the IAT will be able to function more effectively, more flexibly and more sustainably in the community as a Charitable Company than as a Trust.
